Uploading files is really quite easy. There are basically two ways to do it:

• As an attachment to another posting, or
• By itself, purely as an upload to the files area.

 Attached to this posting is a PDF file describing in a graphical presentation the uploading of a file to the files area.

This attachment is, of course, an example of the first-described method.  You merely browse to the file on your computer from the 'attachment' selection while you are creating any kind of content, select the file, click attach, and once you SUBMIT your posting, there it is -- attached to your posting.
